RecoverWell was designed to create a sustainable, long-term infrastructure for improving access to healthcare and social services. Rather than relying on a single funding source, our work is supported through a diversified funding model that allows us to serve vulnerable populations while continuing to invest in innovation, technology, and community partnerships.
RecoverWell receives reimbursement for providing eligible care coordination and system navigation services to qualified Medi-Cal members through contracted programs. These funds support direct patient services, care coordination, and ongoing engagement for individuals with complex medical, behavioral health, and social needs.
RecoverWell actively pursues competitive grants from federal, state, local, and private foundations to expand access to care, strengthen community infrastructure, pilot innovative programs, and address health disparities. Grant funding allows RecoverWell to develop new initiatives, expand into underserved communities, and improve healthcare systems that benefit entire populations.
RecoverWell partners with healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and public agencies to evaluate new approaches to care coordination, healthcare navigation, population health, and systems integration. Research and demonstration projects help identify best practices and improve healthcare delivery across California.
RecoverWell operates a subscription-based provider network for organizations serving individuals with commercial or private insurance. Subscription fees support the technology platform and administrative services that make coordinated referrals possible, including provider listings, referral management, care coordination, documentation support, communication with referring organizations, and continuity of care.
These subscription fees are not payments for patient referrals. RecoverWell does not sell patient referrals, and provider participation does not influence referral decisions. Referrals are always based on clinical appropriateness, patient choice, insurance coverage, availability, and the best interests of the individual receiving care.
RecoverWell also welcomes philanthropic contributions from individuals, corporations, and charitable foundations that share our commitment to improving healthcare access, reducing barriers to care, and strengthening community health infrastructure. These contributions help us expand programs, develop innovative solutions, and serve populations that may otherwise fall through the cracks.

Every dollar invested in RecoverWell supports our mission to transform fragmented systems into coordinated pathways. Whether through care coordination, grants, research, philanthropy, or technology services, each funding source strengthens our ability to connect individuals with healthcare, behavioral health, housing, and community resources.
Our commitment remains constant:
Patients come first. Partnerships are built on trust. Financial sustainability exists to strengthen access to care—not to influence where patients receive it.
RecoverWell operates two distinct partnership models to meet the needs of different healthcare markets.
For providers serving Medi-Cal members and publicly funded programs, RecoverWell does not charge providers to receive referrals, and we do not require reciprocal referrals. Referral decisions are based solely on patient need, clinical appropriateness, insurance coverage, patient choice, and provider availability.
RecoverWell also maintains a subscription-based network for providers serving individuals with commercial or private insurance. This subscription is not a fee for referrals. Rather, it supports the technology and administrative infrastructure RecoverWell provides to participating organizations.
Subscription services include:
RecoverWell’s subscription model compensates the organization for these administrative and care coordination services—not for the referral of patients. Participating providers continue to make independent clinical and admission decisions, and all referrals are based on patient need and appropriateness of care.
Regardless of a provider’s participation in our commercial subscription network, RecoverWell’s guiding principle remains the same:
Patients come before profits. Every referral is made because it is the right clinical fit for the individual—not because of a financial relationship.
