Master of Science in Applied Biostatistics
Apprentice with RecoverWell as we turn data into decisions that will improve broken systems and build solutions for healthier communities.
RecoverWell Interns transform complex data into actionable intelligence that improves health systems, informs policy, and drives measurable outcomes.
Applied biostatistics sits at the intersection of mathematics, public health, clinical science, and systems design. The RecoverWell MSAB interns will developsfour core capabilities:
- Statistical Mastery
- Translational Data Thinking
- Real-World Systems Application
- Ethical & Equity-Centered Analysis
Statistical Mastery
Students must develop deep technical fluency in:
- Probability theory and statistical inference
- Regression modeling (linear, logistic, multilevel)
- Survival analysis
- Predictive analytics
- Longitudinal and repeated-measures modeling
- Causal inference methods
- Bayesian approaches
- Epidemiologic study design
Translational Data Thinking
Students learn to translate complex statistical findings into language that policymakers, hospital administrators, and clinicians can act on. Projects will focus on how data measures:
- Clinical significance
- Operational impact
- Cost implications
- Equity implications
Real-World Systems Application
Interns will work hands-on with the engineers in our technical department as well our operations team to:
- Build dashboards for decision-makers
- Identify patterns in high-cost, high-need populations
- Predict risk of readmission or crisis events
- Evaluate intervention effectiveness
- Support data-driven funding proposals
Ethical & Equity-Centered Analysis
Central to our mission is a very important goal, to make healthcare accessible to all patients. This program will help you:
- Recognize structural bias in datasets
- Understand limitations of administrative data
- Evaluate disparities in health outcomes
- Apply health equity frameworks to analysis
- Protect privacy and ensure responsible data stewardship
